What is the City Gardener Program?
The Purdue Extension-Marion County City Gardener Program was developed in 2002 for new or inexperienced gardeners. It covers a variety of gardening topics and has a focus on gardening in urban areas. The current program offers a series of classes. You can attend one session or the whole series. See topics below.
1. Growing Basics: How Plants Grow, Soils, Composting, Fertilizer
2. Vegetable Gardening: Basics, Specific Vegetables, Tools
3. Pests and Pest Management: insects, diseases, animal pest and weeds
4. Growing Flowers: Annuals, perennials, flowering bulbs and ornamental grasses
5. Lawns: selection, planting and care
6. Trees and Shrubs: planting, maintenance and Selecting Trees and shrubs
